God Is NOT Angry
God is not angry with you. Or me. Or with any human being, for that matter.
God is Not angry. Jesus Already Drank the Cup of Wrath - Once, For All.
The blood of Jesus, perfect and holy, was poured out upon the earth... Once, for all mankind. Not everyone has accepted Him as their "righteousness", but that doesn't make the Gift any less complete. Jesus' blood was enough to cover All sin, for ALL time.
Think about that... ALL sin, for ALL time... as long as people have inhabited this earth, uncountable souls that existed thousands of years ago, all the souls that live today, and all the souls yet unborn, for years to come. Untold billions of people. Billions of sins.
Imagine for a moment all the violence and darkness and lies and hurt caused by all those people who died years ago, all the wars, all the anger and strife and bitterness... All the sins of today, the wars, the animosity and rage... All the sins yet to be committed by people yet to come. And His Blood was enough to cover All of it, Once for All.
If you can believe that, you can begin to enter into His Rest.
- Genesis 15:6 ESV - And he believed the LORD, and he counted it to him as righteousness.
- Isaiah 59:16 - He saw that there was no man,and wondered that there was no one to intercede; then his own arm brought him salvation, and his righteousness upheld him.
- Hebrews 7:27 ESV - He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself.
- Hebrews 9:12 - he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.
- Hebrews 9:26 - for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
- John 16:7-11 ESV - Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
According to the verse we just read:
1) The World is convicted because it doesn't believe in Jesus!
2) The Holy Spirit convicts Believers of Righteousess, not sin, because we Believe!
3) The Ruler of this world (Satan) has been judged.
When you BELIEVE, you are made righteous, simply by the act of believing: FAITH.
God is not condemning us or punishing us. He has provided righteousness to all the world.Romans 4:3 ESV - For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness."
Romans 4:5 ESV - And to the one who does not work but trusts him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,
Philippians 3:9 ESV - and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith--
Isaiah 32:17 - And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.
John 3:17 ESV - For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
John 3:18 ESV - Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
Revelation 12:10 - And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.
Ex. 23:25-26 - You shall serve the LORD your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from among you. None shall miscarry or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.
- Matthew 26:42 - He went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done."
But it was not possible... Jesus drank the cup for me. For you. For all.
If you are saved, your faith in the Blood of Jesus has cleansed you and made you righteous. His blood, poured out once, for all people, for all time, was the only way. He chose to die on our behalf, and believe it -- His blood was enough!
You can count on it. Once, For ALL.
