Reminder: Bind The Enemy
Don't Forget to Bind the Enemy!
So this morning on the way to work, I felt this heavy spirit... a burden of something, but nothing in particular. A weight of care. I prayed for God to let me see through His eyes -- to see things RIGHT, to open my eyes to see the Kingdom correctly. I thought of Paul's prayer for us to "renew our minds" to the truth (Romans 12:2), yet still I sat under an oppressive burden.
And suddenly the answer. The Holy Spirit within me does His work: reminding me of the Word and showing me Truth (John 16:13):
|
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
I opened my mouth and the power of the Holy Spirit flowed through me, a river of living water (John 7:37-39), and I rebuked the enemy. I bound the powers of dread and fear and cast out the familiar spirit of "worse case scenario".
I realized that even an upcoming event I had been looking forward to, had become tainted by vague dread thoughts of "what if"...
Thank You, Father, for reminding me to bind the enemy! Especially in the last days, when Satan becomes more and more worked up (Rev. 12:12), we must not forget to use the keys we have been given.
Matthew 16:19 NIV
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
As soon as I rebuked the enemy I began speaking the Truth against him: I have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind (2 Tim. 1:7). I have not been given a spirit of bondage to fear (Romans 8:15). Faith is the substance of things Hoped for and Not Seen (Hebrews 11:1). I am a child of faith (Galatians 3:7, Gal. 3:14, Isaiah 7:9b) and have been saved by grace Through faith (Eph. 2:8). I am hopeful, no matter what it looks like or feels like! (Romans 5:5, 8:24; Hebrews 10:23; 1 Peter 1:21)
We are told to cast all our burdens upon Him, for He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). We are to enter His rest (Hebrews 4:10-11). Praise God for His power and His kingdom! Praise God for the Peace of Jesus (John 14:27) -- with peace all things are possible.
Mark 4:39 NIV
He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.Psalm 46:4 ESV
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
